LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The SUU men’s golf team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Friday, and the Thunderbirds finished the day in 10th place as a team. Two rounds of action are in the books at the Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Christian Karren was the low man for the Thunderbirds on Friday, finishing the day in a tie for 16th place on the leaderboard. Karren shot 71 in the first round and 70 in the second to finish the day at 141.
Ali Hameed was second for the Thunderbirds and tied for 22nd on the leaderboard at the end of the day on Friday, shooting a combined 143. He shot 73 in the first round and 70 in the second.
Fidel Concepcion and Jake Vincent finished the day in a tie for 34th, and tied for third for the T-Birds as they both carded a 148. Concepcion went 72-73 while Vincent finished 74-71.
Brodey Payzant was fifth for the Thunderbirds and in a tie for 58th overall with a two-round score of 152 (75, 77).
After one day of play Nevada is in first place as a team, followed by UNLV and Cal State Fullerton. Nevada’s Grant Booth is on top of the leaderboard after shooting 134 on Friday.
Play will resume on Saturday morning at 8:30 local time.
