Thunderbirds Travel to Play MSU Denver and Northern Colorado

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Southern Utah University women’s tennis team plays the MSU Denver Roadrunners and the Northern Colorado Bears this weekend in Colorado.

The Thunderbirds last played Portland State in a conference matchup, after which taking a week off competition to prepare for the last few matches of the season.
In the No. 1 position, senior Evgenia Marushko topped Portland State’s Siena Peri to improve her individual record to 9-8. Sophomore Charity Sagiao also beat Georgia Dobell in Sagiao’s first match in the No. 3 position for the 2017 season.
The Thunderbirds were unable to take the doubles point, but SUU’s team of Marushko and junior Laura Martin Lozano won their respective match in the No. 2 position.
The Thunderbirds will first play the MSU Roadrunners. The Roadrunners are 12-7 for the 2017 season, having won their last match over CSU-Pueblo 8-1. The Roadrunners are 3-0 for home matches this season.
After the Roadrunners, the T-Birds will play a conference match against the Northern Colorado Bears. The Bears won their last match over Portland State 4-3, improving their overall record to 8-9. The Bears are lead by Anna Battersby in the No. 1 position with a 7-8 record. Northern Colorado has a .600 winning percentage in the doubles competition and a .420 percentage for the singles competition.
The T-Birds will play the Roadrunners on Friday, April 14, at 2 pm in Denver, Colorado. The second match against the Bears will be on Saturday, April 15, at 11 am in Greenley, Colorado.
