CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's tennis team wrapped up their 2017 regular season Saturday morning as they hosted the Idaho State Bengals. The Thunderbirds were able to pick up two singles wins, but would ultimately fall to the Bengals 5-2.
The Bengals took an early 1-0 lead sweeping the doubles competition and taking the point.
Senior Evgenia Marushko and junior Laura Martin Lozano were both able to pick up wins in the singles competition. Marushko, in her last competition as a Thunderbird, defeated ISU's Hristina Cvetkovic (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) in the No. 1 position. Martin Lozano, playing in the No. 6 position, defeated the Bengals' Madison Fenske (6-2, 6-2).
The Bengals would go on to take the rest of the matches and secure the win with a score of 5-2. The Thunderbirds end the season with a 2-20 overall record and a 1-9 record in Big Sky play.
