T-Bird Set To Run On Global Stage

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Thunderbird freshman Aidan Reed is set to compete for Team USA at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, Uganda, this Sunday in his second event representing the United States.
Reed, who was adopted from Ethiopia, has been in Africa preparing for the event with his Team USA counterparts with the race scheduled for a 6:10 a.m. (Mountain Time) start on Sunday.
Reed will be running in the Under 20 Championships, along with five other athletes making up the squad for the United States.
The T-Bird earned the right to compete in this event at the USATF XC Championships in Bend, Oregon, on February 4th after after running a 26:19.9 on the 8K course. He also competed at the 2017 NACAC Cross Country Championships, where he finished second for the United States and helped lead the team to a first place finish.
The previous event was ran in Boca Raton, Florida, with this event giving Reed the opportunity to travel past the borders of the United State for competition.
As just a freshman Reed has been impressive for the Thunderbirds, earning All-Conference status at the 2016 Big Sky Cross Country Championships, and competing for the top squad all season as a freshman.
